What is happening? What is happening in your role and responsibilities with ESLC?
Our group was at the beginning Teachers Conference. We had a booth set up and had many new teachers visit. I was able to coordinate a few of us to hep out at the booth (thanks everyone!) and we handed out some copies of our newest publication. We also publicized the up coming PD session for ESLC members. We are holding an ELL and tech PD workshop facilitated by Apple Education. Currently there are 20 people attending who are not part of our executive. For a Saturday this is great! This particular workshop is FREE and the CSSD is providing the venue for FREE as well! Looking at further PD opportunities- especially to rural districts. Looking for a location in High River or Okotoks for a possible film event.

Why is this important? What does the above mean for our members, teaching and learning and/or the council?
Visibility means a possible increase in membership as well as the ability to publicize the events we are providing/facilitating. As a PD committee we are always looking for workshops and ideas that will support our members in their confidence and ability to support their students.

What are the next steps? What is next for you in your role - where to from here? What do you need from the council or how could the council benefit from you?
I need to find a venue for the next PD session. I may need to rethink the timing as well. Our conference is in April. Looking to see what support from PD director and MAL south/Calgary can do to support the conference. Will be doing a session at Mount Royal University in Calgary to students in the joint education assistant and teacher education program. (mid November)
